What is Breathwork?
Breathwork is a safe, gentle and powerful breathing technique.
Conscious connected breathing over a period of time energises the body
and may bring old memories, feelings and physical tension into awareness.
Accepting, or integrating, these sensations result in a profound sense
of relaxation and well-being. The immediate aim of breathwork is to be
relaxed and energised with reduced stress and increased aliveness. The
long term aim is the expansion of awareness through contacting the subconscious
thoughts, beliefs and recurring patterns that are running our lives. Empowered
both physically and spiritually, individuals find themselves more free
to express their creativity, more able to adapt to the movement of life
and more capable of participating in the creation of the life-path of
their choice.
Essentially, breathwork recognises the breath as the most simple, natural
and powerful inner resource available for triggering openings into our
inner state of being.
What do we experience?
It is difficult to predict any one session as every person is unique
and their experience of breathwork is influenced by their state of mind,
health and emotions. Typically one might feel:
- changes of temperature i.e. feeling hot or cold
- tightness, tingling or numbness
- emotional release of fear, anger or sadness
- memories of childhood and/or past relationships
- deep relaxation and a sense of bliss
Is it for everyone?
Everyone can benefit from breathwork. It is a powerful tool which
assist you to bring about the desired changes in your own life
therefore it is more beneficial for those who are prepared to accept personal
responsibility for those changes.
Who can it help?
Generally people come to breathwork to address issues such as relationship
difficulties, abuse, stress ... or simply because some area of their life
just isn't working and they have no idea why and they want to feel more
alive, free and in touch with themselves ...
